SELINUNTE: the recently founded Archaeological Park of Selinunte takes in a large part of the area of the municipality of Castelvetrano. The ruins of the ancient city of Selinunte are scattered between the Gaggera hill to the west and the so called Collina Orientale (Eastern hill) to the east.
In the Acropolis we find substantial vestiges of the ring walls, rebuilt under the Phoenicians and the remains of the powerful fortifications for which Hermocrates was responsible.
Next to the Archaeological site of Selininte there is a beautiful sandy beach where you can go to swim after the long walk under the sun.
