Very nice Trekking.
60 Km away from Palermo -
Take the Palermo - Trapani Motorway, Exit Castellammare del Golfo. Then follow the direction San Vito. after about 6/8 Km you'll see the exit Scopello. You'll pass the beach Guidaloca. After about 3 Km you'll see the indication "Castello di Baida". Take that direction. After 7 Km you'll get and you'll park there. Next by a "Caseificio" where they produce some loca cheese...after the hiking or before....you could buy some local cheap cheese!! :o)
This Trekking is an Alternative one to the less difficult trekking to the top of Monte Sparacio (1020 mt) With the alternative one you'll get 950 mt after 5 Km hiking and it's steeper. 1 way Ascent is 650 mt. Total walk included stops (1 way) is 2 hours 40 minutes.

Castello di Badia: from the begining of the nineteenth Century, Baisa was a barony comprising a vast woodland zone, its main activity being livestock rearing and hunting. At the chentre of the estate was the so called castle, a fortified structure with a centra courtyard situated on high ground. Presumably built around the end of the XIII century and later enlargef, it conserves few traces of the ancient structure: ruins of towers, parts of walls, a small church and a beutiful depressed arched doorway with diamond shaped arched ashlars with, on top, a small bell glabe. A Latin inscription remembers the visit of Ferdinando III of Borbone.
