The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense. GPS was originally intended for military applications, but in the 1980s, the government made the system available for civilian use. GPS works in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day. There are no subscription fees or setup charges to use GPS.

This is a Database of Gps waypoints and Point of Interest (POI) in Sicily. They are for all the trekkers and all people who wish to discover Sicily...If you have some more interesting POI and you want to share with us, please, send them to us and we'll put them in this database.trekking@giorgioshouse.com .... Maps are not very well updated and it's also difficult to find them...The paths and the trails often are not well marked so the Gps will give you a very good help.
