Pizzo Carbonara (mt 1979) is the second highest point of Sicily 
The Trail: moderate: From the Ostello  to the tomb of Argo (a very nice dog guide) it takes Km 1.280. Slope 28%.From The tomb of Argo to Pizzo Carbonara it's Km 1.220. The Direct Way to Pizzo Carbonara from the Hostel is Km 7.3 (it takes 3 hours). Consider Km 1.3 more if you want to get the Tomb of Argo 
Panorama is great. ...The trail to Pizzo Carbonara is very nice bute route is not well indicated. Best Period: Spring and Autumn.

Equipement: Hiking boots - Water -  Food - Jacket.The weather can channge very quickly. 
 
Start Point(Ostello): 1574 meters 
Max High (Pizzo Carbonara): 1979 mt 
 
TOTAL Ascent: 490 meters

How to get to the Start of the walk of Pizzo Carbonara: 
Take the motorway Palermo-Catania. Exit Buonfornello, then follow the direction Collesano, then Piano Battaglia.When you arrive to the Ostello della gioventù , you can park there.Total Km from Palermo 84 km. Take a sandwich in Collesano or in Palermo...much cheaper. A Small Sandwich in the Ostello was 4 euros!!! 
A very nice dog wanted to join me for all the trek....wow....what a great trekker...We also shared the food!!! :o) Pizzo Carbonara is the second Highest point in Sicily after Etna.When it's clear the Panorama from Pizzo Carbonara is Wonderful!...You can see all around Sicily.
