We started from the Base of the Funivia of Nicolosi:
There are 3 ways to go up:
1) You Pay for the Funivia and the trak with the guide: Around 2 hours and 50 euros
2) You hike till the end of the Funivia ( 1h.30 minutes) ant then you take the Trak with the Guide: 22 euros
3) You'll walk till the end (around 4 hours) Free ;o)
You need a bit of experience to go by yourself. It's not that dangerous but remember...ETNA IS A VOLCAN. The smoke can be a bit toxic. Good to have a Compass, a Gps, good boots a jacket and  a map.
